9 Best Family-Friendly Hotels in KL

The school holidays are fast approaching... have you planned out the itinerary and activities for your kids yet? One of my favorite things to do during the school holidays is to bring the family on a staycation. Staycations are great as you will not need to go too far and the whole family gets to bond and enjoy a good time together :)

Here are 9 of the best family-friendly hotels in KL, all of which we have stayed in and loved :)

One of the best hotels we stayed in this year was Hilton Kuala Lumpur. The hotel is family-friendly, making our stay truly enjoyable and stress-free.

The highlight of our stay was the water slide at the pool area. Our kids had hours of fun and laughter going down the slide. Having a water slide at the pool made our job very easy in terms of keeping them entertained, so we could sit back by the pool and relax while keeping a watchful eye over them.

The rooms are equipped with bathtubs (perfect for rainy days) as well as kids channel. Furthermore, in one of the restaurants, Graze, they provide large sheets of paper for the kids to draw on while waiting for the food to arrive.

2. Saujana Hotels & Resorts, KL

The resort is surrounded by 160 hectares of lush tropical forest gardens and water features, hence making this the ideal urban retreat for those looking for an escape from the city, without having to travel too far. The rooms are equipped with a large bathtub, making bath time extra fun.

The free-form pool at The Saujana Hotel comes with a water slide, so hours of fun guaranteed! There is also a small play area for your kids and bicycles for loan at the pool area.

Do also check out the Japanese buffet at Kogetsu, which is available every Saturday and Sunday. Best of all, kids under the age of 12 gets to eat for FREE!

3. The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur

For families staying at The Ritz-Carlton KL, there is the Ritz Kids Room, located on the 4th Floor of the hotel, where you will be able to find video games, card games, books and magazine as well as various toys to keep your children entertained.

The butlers will be on hand to give you assistance should you require any. For example you can put in a request for a towel origami lesson for your kids. There will be daily activities planned for kids as part of the Ritz Kids program and additionally a special Ritz Kids menu available for in-room dining. At the Sunday Brunch, parents can enjoy the spread while the capable butlers keep the kids entertained at The Ritz Kids corner. A range of fun activities such as cupcake decoration, smoothie making and coloring activities are available for your kids to enjoy.

The 2-bedroom suite is ideal for families as it comes with two bedrooms, meaning your children will have their own space. There is also a TV in the kids bedroom, which comes with Disney channel.

4. InterContinental Kuala Lumpur

Adorable InterContinental Bears greeted us as we walked into our room. What a lovely welcome for BabySumoKids! We stayed in the Grand Premier Room, which comes with a super king sized bed which could easily sleep the whole family.

The main event of any family staycation for us is pool time, and InterContinental KL's pool area on Level 5 is beautifully landscaped. There are three pools here with differing depths to cater for the whole family, 0.8m and 1.0m for the kids and a 1.2m adult pool.

The hotel offers a Family Getaway package which includes tickets to one of the best family attractions in KL, Aquaria KLCC. Kids also dine free with a paying adult.

5. Pullman KLCC Hotel & Residences

Our most recent family staycation was at Pullman KLCC. We stayed in the Family Suite, located in the Residence wing and it comes with 2 bedrooms. The kids bedroom is equipped with bunk beds, cuddly soft toys, other toys such as building blocks as well as a PlayStation and bean bags.

The kids bedroom comes with their own en-suite bathroom, which has a bathtub, sink and toilet. Bathtime is much more fun, thanks to the cute bath toys, plastic cups and even kid-sized bathrobes.

Other than that, there is also The Zone, equipped with Xbox, PlayStation and iMac, as well as recreational facilities (slide) to entertain your kids. Not forgetting the swimming pool, which is perfect for a fun morning or afternoon with your kids. There are 3 pools here - a kids pool (0.6m), a jacuzzi/dipping pool and a regular-sized pool.

6. Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel

We stayed in the New Deluxe Rooms, which comes with a day bed (which converts into a bed), so it can comfortably fit our family of four. The pool area is fantastic,  beautifully landscaped, with tall palm trees providing shade and substantial lounge chairs for hotel guests and  features both an Olympic-sized pool (depth 1.2m) and a children's pool (0.6m).

7. Le Meridien Putrajaya

We stayed in the Signature Room (42 sq m) which was spacious and well-furnished. It comes with a bathtub which the kids loved and they can even watch the Disney Channel while soaking in the bathtub, as the bedroom and bathroom are separated by a glass wall.

There is an adult size pool (1.1m) as well as children's pool (0.3m). The pool area is well landscaped, with a good mix of tiles, artificial grass, pool furniture and trees. For those with younger children, the hotel also has a Kids Club located on Level 3.This hotel also allows families to bring their children to the Club Lounge during cocktail hour (as long as they're well behaved!).

Technically this hotel is not located in Kuala Lumpur, but it is only a 20-minute drive away. It is also connected to IOI City Mall, so you will find plenty of shops, as well an Olympic-sized ice-skating rink, bowling alley, cinema and bookshops to keep your kids entertained.

8. Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral

The "Suite Up Your Weekend" package is perfect for a family staycation - it comes with a Breezy Suite (from RM620+ per night) and a complimentary adjacent Loft Room! Plenty of living and bedroom space :) Don't forget to request for Camp Aloft, designed for children below 12 years old. It comes with a camp castle, air mattress and special treats for the kids.

The hotel's all day dining restaurant offers a fantastic breakfast spread. For the kids, they provide plastic utensils and plates for kids as well as building blocks to keep them amused so parents can eat their breakfast in peace.

Head up to the rooftop pool for a swim or enjoy a BBQ spread at Mai Bar (there are Jenga blocks here). We also love the interactive games (especially Just Dance) on the XBox 360 at the lobby area. The hotel is also connected via a link bridge to Nu Sentral shopping mall and KL Sentral train station.

9. Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of KL city and boasts one of the best views of Petronas Twin Towers. The hotel is within walking distance from this famous landmark as well as various shopping malls such as Suria KLCC, Avenue K and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and family attractions such as Aquaria KLCC and Petrosains.

We love the fact that we could wake up in the mornings, take the lift downstairs and the KLCC Park is right at our doorstep. You can go here for a morning or evening jog, a leisurely walk and for families, there is a fantastic (massive) outdoor playground for your children to have fun in. There is also a water play area for your kids under 12 to splash in. There is also a pool on Level 33, whereby families can enjoy a swim or just come up for the view.

The hotel also offers complimentary buggy service to the mall, which our kids loved!

  2. With regards to the food, hotels usually hire chefs to do all the cooking – which does ultimately drive up the price of chain hotels. The cooking is uniform, and is usually undertaken by professionals who are loosely associated with the hotel. train and hotel packages to montreal
